This is going to be a short and sweet post.
I’m pretty sure I would do almost anything anything for these beautiful Spring 2011 Christian Louboutin’s.

After months of dark, heavy, winter layers spring has arrived & brought with it a rainbow of colours to wear! There’s something about that first warm, sunny, spring day & the amazing feeling of the sun on my face that makes me want to put on something bright. But how do I choose what color to wear when there are so many? Luckily color blocking is another spring /summer trend that seems to be popping up everywhere. Meaning I dont have to choose! Color blocking is simple & can be a very effective tool when you want to bring more attention to some parts of your body than others. Start by pairing colours that compliment each other like purple with pink, or blue with reds & oranges. If your not ready to jump right into head-to-toe color try combining a bright top with black, grey or white pants, or a neutral khaki outfit with colourful accessories like your shoes, bag or jewelery. Regardless of the route you take it’s best to keep your whole outfit to 3 or 4 colors max & choose clean simple silhouettes to avoid looking like an out of control rainbow. If you want to make your legs look longer wear something darker on top & bring all the attention to your legs with brightly coloured tights or jeans. To distract from a bulging winter belly wear a darker top with a bright cardigan & cute skirt, if you want to bring attention to your face or shoulders wear a dress with a bright collar or a brightly coloured necklace.

Here are a LOT of my favorite pieces (once I started it was hard to stop), there are soooooooo many styles that are perfect for this trend! Now get mixing & matching, this is a trend that you can really have fun with!!

It’s officially spring & the weather in Winnipeg is constantly changing, one minute its warm & sunny, the next its snowing & then two hours later its raining. I have to dress to be ready to experience all 3 possible seasons by the time I drive to work & come home. The new Burberry April Showers collection campaign reminds me of why I used to love spring when I was a kid so much, splashing in puddles & all the brightly coloured rain coats, rubber boots & umbrellas I got to wear.

Since I spent most of my free time at my grandparents farm when I was little, naturally I wore rubber boots a LOT. I couldn’t tell you how many booters (a boot full of cold water) I got, or how many times I did a face plant in the mud when my boot got stuck while following my dad around the pasture attempting to cuddle with new born calves but there are too many to mention.

The muddy, dirty streets & abundance of puddles are not the greatest conditions to wear my summer shoes in, I think it’s time to invest in a pair of rubber boots. I love HUNTER boots! Check out the site here to see their full range of amazing products.

There are plenty of styles to choose from whether you are looking for a walking shoe or a heavy duty work boot & lots of accessories like boot socks to take you from Spring to Winter. These are great all year round boots & officially have a spot on my spring wish list! Here are 3 of my favorites:

Hunter Festival Tall Boots in Cobalt, Hunter Original Gloss Tall Boots in Red, Hunter Carnaby Collection Tall Metallic Boa Boots in Pewter Metallic

Will you be buying a pair of rubber boots to combat April showers?

From thin to thick, vertical or horizontal, bright or pale, stripes are EVERYWHERE! I personally do not own any item of clothing that has any kind of stripe. I’ve always feared that the wrong kind of stripe will make me appear shorter or even worse wider. BUT this trend is getting hard to ignore & I think it might be time for me to get over my fear of stripes. Maybe I’ll ease myself into it and start with a bag or cute pair of summer shoes. Either way here are some pieces that have inspired me to start thinking stripes!

From top to bottom:
Nautical Dreaming Chemise – available at, Marc by Marc Jacobs Pretty Nylon Medium Tate Tote & Simone Short Dress – both available at, Vintage 70’s Stripe Sundress – available at, Island Stripe Wedges – available at, Multicolored Polka Dot Striped Full Skirt – available at, Diane von Furstenberg Striped Ignacia Wrap Dress – available at, High Sun Bikini – available at

How CUTE is the High Sun Bikini!? I love love love the bow at the back and the 70’s high waist I’d totally wear this to the beach with the Marc Jacobs Pretty tote! These are stripes I could wear!

Do you have stripes in your closet or are you a first timer like me? I’d love to hear your opinion on this trend!

Cargo pants are EVERYWHERE this spring! Compared to last year there is a much wider variety of silhouettes & washes to fit anyones shape or style. New colours & wash treatments make these effortless to wear & are great to pair with all the floral prints that are popping up everywhere. Light & airy feminine fabrics & dainty floral prints compliment the more masculine details & silhouettes. Here are some of my favorite pretty floral tops & cargos. Enjoy!

Will you be adding any of these to your spring wish-list?

I’m seeing more & more boring, straight hemlines being replaced by ultra feminine & super fun scalloped hems. One of my favorite trends for this spring are shorts with scalloped hemlines in a variety of fabrics from laser cut leathers to eyelet lace & denim. Here are a few super cute pairs I came across:

Since I have a soft spot for anything denim my favorites are the MOTO Blue Scallop Hem denim shorts. Paired with a floral print top (also trending for spring/summer) & some simple leather sandals
= my perfect summer outfit!

From top to bottom:
MOTO Blue Scallop Hem denim shorts available at Topshop, Marc by Marc Jacobs Effie Eyelet Shorts & Madison Marcus Incarnation Suede Shorts both available at, Blue Scallop Hem Shorts available at Topshop, ASOS Scalloped Hem Shorts available at, Pink Scallop Hem Suede Shorts available at Topshop, Effie Eyelet Shorts & Twenty8Twelve Driben Bow Shorts available at Shopbop.

There is no doubt that pink is the new black for spring 2011. It was featured on plenty of runways from Jil Sander, Isabel Marant, DKNY, Valentino & Nina Ricci in a variety of shades ranging from bright neons to more neutral, pale pinks. I personally love how the color is trending in denim & can’t wait to slip my legs into a pair of pink denim shorts or super slim skinnies in the near future.
Here are a few of my favorites:

Will you be following this trend? I’d love to know!
